California 30 Freeway around San Bernardino - West
Westbound California 30/Future California 210 begins as the freeway transitions from eastbound Interstate 10 onto westbound California 210/30. Photo taken 05/02/02.
The first three exits along westbound California 30/Future California 210 are Exit 84, San Bernardino Avenue; Exit 83, Fifth Street; and Exit 82, Base Line Road. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Westbound California 30/Future California 210 begins to angle northwest as it approaches Exit 84. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Westbound California 30/Future California 210 approaches Exit 82, Base Line Road, followed by Exit 81, Junction California 330 north and Exit 79, Junction Business California 30 west/Highland Avenue. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Westbound California 30/Future California 210 approaches Exit 82, Base Line Road. At this point, California 30/210 is traveling due north, and Base Line Road leads east-west to serve Highland and San Bernardino. Photo taken 05/02/02.
The next exit along westbound California 30/Future California 210 is Exit 81, Junction California 330. Photo taken 05/02/02.
California 330 leads north from Highland to California 18 at Running Springs. This is the most direct route from the Inland Empire to Big Bear Lake and the nearby ski resorts. There are only two California 3xx state routes, and both are "derivative" routes: California 330 connects to California 30, and California 371 is an orphaned section of what used to be California 71. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Westbound California 30/Future California 210 reaches Exit 81, Junction California 330. California 330 is merely a connector route to California 18, and it follows what used to be California 30 before the freeway alignment was routed southeast toward Redlands. Photo taken 05/02/02.

The next exit along westbound California 30/Future California 210 is Exit 79, Junction Business California 30/Highland Avenue. Business California 30 leads west along Highland Avenue into San Bernardino, running parallel to the freeway. Business California 30 and California 30 rejoin west of San Bernardino. The portion of Business California 30 between California 259 and Waterman Avenue is also designated as Business California 18, but it is likely that the Business California 18 designation is a throwback from when California 259 was signed as California 18, and California 18 continued south and west to Long Beach. It is unclear if this would become Business California 210 (or Business Loop I-210) once the freeway is redesignated. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Following the business route, the next exit along westbound California 30/Future California 210 is Exit 78, Del Rosa Avenue, followed by Exit 76, Junction California 18 (Waterman Avenue). This advance sign is located along westbound just prior to Exit 79, Junction Business California 30/Highland Avenue. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Although not marked, this is also the eastern terminus of Business California 18, which leads south from this interchange along Highland Avenue, then turns west toward hidden California 259. The next two photos show advance signage, and these signs are fairly old. This is because the section of California 210/30 between Highland Avenue and Interstate 215 was constructed much earlier than the section at which the three and one-half miles advance signage is located. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Westbound California 210/30 reaches Exit 76, Junction California 18/Waterman Avenue. This advance sign, like the previous sign, is fairly old. This is because the section of California 210/30 between Highland Avenue and Interstate 215 was constructed much earlier than the section at which the three and one-half miles advance signage is located. Use California 18 north to reach Crestline and Lake Arrowhead. Photo taken 05/02/02.
The next exit along westbound California 30/Future California 210 is Exit 75B, Junction California 259. The exit for northbound Interstate 215, as shown in the last picture, is not until the point where California 210/30 meet Interstate 215. Photo taken 05/02/02.
Motorists making the connection from westbound California 210/30 must use Exit 75B/California 259 to reach southbound Interstate 215. As such, all of the overhead signs proclaim this exit as Interstate 215, when in reality, Interstate 215 is actually another mile or so further west of here. Photo taken 05/02/02.

This mileage sign along westbound California 210 is the first one on the short stub freeway in San Dimas and La Verne. With the completion of California 210, it will become part of a much longer freeway. Photo taken 09/28/02.
Westbound California 210 approaching Interstate 210, one mile. This sign is the last one to feature a California 30 shield along westbound, but of course this shield will be covered up or removed once the California 210 freeway is opened east of here. The other shields (California 57, California 71, and Interstate 10) are in place to remind travelers that Interstate 210 southbound (eastbound) connects to a variety of other roads within just a few miles of this interchange.
