California 84 crosses the Ryer Island/Hearn Ferry just north of Rio Vista. It, along with California 220, is one of the few state routes to utilize a ferry crossing. This is perhaps one reason why this section of California 84 is not as well-signed as the section in the Bay Area. Photo taken by Joel Windmiller (06/19/01). |

Now in West Sacramento, northbound California 84 follows Jefferson Boulevard (however, this section is in the process of being decommissioned). Underneath a series of ramps, California 84 approaches Business Loop I-80 (which is also signed as U.S. 50 and secretly known as Interstate 305) west to San Francisco. Note that the word "loop" is omitted from the business loop shield shown on this guide sign. Photo taken 01/16/06. |
